Small Changes…. Slow & Steady

Awwwww, this week has been so amazing and it’s only Wednesday!

I was offered a new position (that I turned down after much thought), I received a raise, I’ve been working out like a BEAST, my pants, rings, and even underwear are fitting much looser, I weighed in half a pound lighter from last week (114.5lbs) AAaaaanndddd…… I threw my suit on to take some pics and I am finally seeing progress.

This is cause for celebration! Today I made my event Emerald Cup ‘Facebook Official’ and invited a couple of my closest homie’s. I have gotten a couple of responses, it feels amazing to have my friends and families support. Now I wish my competition was next week instead of 14 weeks out. Booooo….

I’ve been adjusting to this diet quite well too. I’m going onto the third week. I’m hoping at the end of 30 days it will be habitual. I get really excited about craisins and peanut butter! Not together of course….. I’ve become addicted to cottage cheese, cinnamon, and craisins….. delicious combination! I haven’t created a name for it yet. Sliced honey crisp apples with peanut butter have also become a favorite.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend’s cheat meal! I’m thinkin’ Mexican again…. Azteca really hit the spot last time. No dessert though! I can have one or the other…. not both. Here are my options for cheat meals below, vote for one or suggest your own! I’m curious to see what the general public would choose!

Tonight I am running home, hopefully gonna make it another 6 mile run like Monday night. Tomorrow I’m hittin’ the gym full force, gonna tackle my booty in the squat rack. Actually seeing some slow and steady results in that area! Yippee! I still have so much time left, I can make all the slow progress I want, as long as progress is being made.

Can’t wait to dig into some yummy dinner tonight! Last night I had to have a ‘mid-week’ meal prep since Derek has been eating my food. Come on man! You don’t have to be on a diet, I do! Make your own damn food! Just kidding…. seriously though.

protein cookiesLast night I made more Turkey Muffins since they are soooo addicting! Even Derek likes them and he hates most anything ‘healthy’ I try to make. I baked and mashed sweet potatoes and steamed more broccoli. I am trying to figure out what I want to make this weekend. I have so many oats and peanut butter I might just make Peanut Butter Oatmeal Protein cookies with coconut oil and Truvia! MMmmm yummm!

2 more days till the weekend! Big plans! Celebrating my raise and weight loss, not sure how yet. Maybe new work pants and night out with the hubby? I have lost 10lbs since starting at the Executive Briefing Center. My size ‘0’ pants used to be SKIN tight, I could hardly fit into them after they came out of the dryer. Now when I wash and dry them and put them on they sag like sweat pants. They use to be ‘high-waisted’ but now they fall down my hips. I’m not complaining! I just hope I don’t lose my wedding ring, it’s been really lose!

I will need to schedule some posing practice in the very near future. I feel like if there’s anything I will struggle with, it will be posing! Next month I will set something up with Natalie, have her show me some tips and tricks!

Anyways, hope everyone is havin’ an awesome hump day! Don’t forget to vote for a cheat meal!

Cooking Obsession!

Wow…. it just took me 20 minutes to scrub a freakin’ cupcake pan out! Whewww!

Let’s just say I’ve become a little OBSESSED with meal prep… all the endless possibilities! Those usually aren’t the words you hear coming out of a competitors mouth, but for me, a whole new world has been opened!

There is more than just one way to cook chicken! I can finally put my Crock Pot to use. Moist shredded chicken beats boiled chicken any day. I’ve been neglecting my Crock Pot… you can throw virtually ANYTHING in there, it’s seriously the greatest.

I’ve also been making much more use of my Pinterest account. Check out my Healthy Eats board for all the recipes I want to try. Plenty of protein pancakes, smoothies, sweet potato recipes and so on and so forth. Yesterday I spent 5 hours cooking, which is a rareity for me. Our electricity bill is gonna be high this month.

Trying these next!

Trying these next!

I made the Spinach Upside-Down Cakes which I completely failed at. The recipe called for ‘rice meal’ which I misread as ‘brown rice’, therefore I put neither in the batter. Turns out ‘rice meal’ was very necessary for a thicker consistency. I stored them away in the fridge for this week regardless, they are a great source of protein at only 50 calories each! Yummmm!

I also made Oatmeal Peanut Butter Banana Protein cookies. They are a little bland, and I had to substitute a lot of ingredients that I didn’t have. Still full of protein, ain’t gonna waste that shit!

I made diced chicken seasoned with cayenne, paprika, and garlic fried in a pan with a little bit of olive oil for dinner last night. I also made a big pot of brown rice seasoned with cilantro to last the week and I cleaned and prepared spinach for salads. Pretty exciting Sunday night! O, plenty of cleaning and laundry too, definitely prepared for the week.

This weekend we are HOPEFULLY gonna get out Costco card and stock up on all the yummies. We usually eat the same thing every week, so grocery shopping shouldn’t be hard, and would be cheaper to buy in bulk. I want plenty of chicken breasts, ground turkey, broccoli, Quest bars if they have any, frozen fruit, Greek yogurt, almond milk, oats, almond butter, and the list could go on and ON!

I’m already planning my cheat meal this weekend! I asked Derek if we could make pancakes and he says, “That’s ALL you want for your cheat meal?! How boring…..” So, to make use of the new cupcake pan I bought, and create a fun activity with Kai this weekend, perhaps we’ll make ‘healthier’ cupcakes.

MMmmm food, love trying new recipes and I love the way my body feels when I eat healthy! So far, not too bad. Week #2 on the cutting phase with plenty more heavy and intense training sessions in store. We’ll see how I feel by Friday!

Tomorrow is my strength training day, heavy weights and cardio intervals. This part of my training becomes a little bit more secretive since my husband has bestowed upon me his ‘Derek Formula’ for maximum results. People pay big bucks for that, so I’m keeping it private. I can tell you this much, I am still sore from Saturday and every time I use his formula I am left out of breath and shaking. Perfect workout to torch calories, challenge the body, and push yourself into exhaustion in an hour and a half max.

I think I’m most frightened for Wednesday’s training session! I haven’t swam laps in FOREVER and I hardly know how to use a cycling bike! Hump day will be the toughest yet.

OOooo! By the way, I am going to begin a new book recommended by Derek! I’m sure a lot of you have heard of Osho. I am going to start reading ‘The Book of Wisdom‘ written by him. There are 28 chapters, so I want to read a chapter a day and really meditate on each word. I get stressed out so easily and fret about silly things, my mental awareness is pretty weak. Sooooo, while I exercise my body I am also going to exercise my mind and practice his teachings. I might disappear for few days lost in thought, but I’ll return and share my findings.

On that note, have a good night! Happy Monday everybody, hope your week is fabulous!

Motivational Monday!

Guess what folks?! I actually got my ass out of bed this morning and worked out! YESSSS! I broke my ‘no-working-out-on-Monday’ streak, finally! I seriously feel like a new person right now…..

This morning I did 3 Zuzka videos at home, felt awesome as usual. My abs and oblique’s are KILLING me from yesterdays ‘Bosu Side Plank Weighted Wraps’. Torched my abs yesterday, definitely needed to. I feel like my core has gotten pretty weak since I’ve been focusing on cardio and legs. Definitely miss that chiseled six-pack, time to bring it back!

For breakfast I made a delicious smoothie PACKED with vitamins and nutrients to fuel my morning:

1) Handful of shredded Kale
2) 1 whole Banana
3) 1 cup frozen mixed fruit (raspberry, blackberry, strawberry)
4) 3 tablespoons Chia Seeds
5) Splash of fat-free milk

Blend and enjoy!

Tomorrow morning I’m doing ZWOW #57 at home as well as a Resistance Band Circuit I conjured up. Pretty stoked to try it out! I found an awesome video on YouTube with some new resistance band exercises. I have incorporated combination exercises to focus on the whole body. I want to start using more resistance training for my upper body since it comes in pretty easily. No need to pack on more muscle, I’ve made my gains, now I need to maintain and shred.

On that note, I created my goals for this week! These need to happen:

1) Workout 6 days this week:
     – 45-60 minutes of cardio 4 times this week (Zuzka HIIT videos included)
     – 2 days of booty building
     – 3 days of core training (Zuzka HIIT videos included)
     – 2 days of resistance band training

2) Reduce sugar and carb intake:
     – No bread at lunch time, eat salad with lean protein
     – Holidays are over! No more sweet treats and candy

3) Posing practice!
     – 3 days of posing practice, 45 minutes each
     – Wearing heels around the house to break them in

4) REGISTER!
     – Registration opened last week, I have my application, now I need to send in the check

5) Create a macro meal plan for competition prep
     – Create a plan breakdown and start date
     – Calculate daily macros
     – Create meal plan based on macros

There they are! Big goals for this week, but I need to take advantage of the extra time I have before work gets crazy again. Excited to start smashing out a training plan and gettin’ it DONE! The Holiday Season was amazing, but I’m ready for the New Year. Hope everyone has an awesome week! Stay tuned…..
