My Top 10 Fall and Winter Must Haves!

1) Almond Roca – Above any holiday dessert dish, Almond Roca is my strongest vice throughout the Holiday season. This delicious toffee almond candy has me weak at the knees every year. I told my husband he’s not allowed to let me buy the Costco sized tin when we go grocery shopping. This is the perfect Holiday candy, great for stocking stuffers, work parties, family get-togethers, or a movie night in front of the fire…. in moderation.

2) Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa – Who doesn’t love Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa?! I typically don’t drink this throughout the year, but this hot cocoa hits the spot during the cold weather Holiday season. I especially love taking a thermos of hot cocoa with the family while we go look at Christmas lights throughout the neighborhood. My favorite way to have it is in a jumbo mug with plenty of mini marshmallows, whip cream, and sprinkles!

3) Lululemon Running Gloves – Cold season is upon us, so it’s time to bundle up! Not only are these gloves super cute and fashionable, they are meant as running gloves. I sadly lost my Lululemon gloves a few years ago, I didn’t start running until last year so I never had a chance to use them for their purpose. They also have finger sensors so you can still use your phone for running apps or music. I will definitely be purchasing another pair for outdoor running this year.

4) Bose Head Phones – BEST … HEADPHONES … EVER. Once you begin using Bose Head Phones, you’ll never be able to go back to those crappy ipod/iphone head phones. Sorry Apple, I love you but Bose has you beat! Partnership perhaps? I love my head phones for outdoor running, the design of the earpiece keeps the bud firmly in place.

5) 25lb Kettle Bell – It’s been my dream for months now to own a 25lb KettleBell (GoFit)! I have been working out at home more often since I’ve been in school. Some times I don’t feel like fighting people at the gym for equipment after work during rush hour. Plus it can be so time consuming to take the bus from work to the gym. I believe it’s time for me to get that 25lb KettleBell so I can add some weight resistance to my home workouts.

6) Naked 2 Palette – I know the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette is old news since the Naked 3 Palette released, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s the BEST Naked palette! I bought mine off eBay for a pretty good deal. The taupe hues are complimentary for any skin type and a great look for fall. The palette includes golds, silvers, nudes, and additional warm colors perfect for the season.

7) Tarte Braziliance Self Tanner – It’s no secret that everyone turns a little pasty in the Winter when they lose their Summer sun kissed glow. However there is a solution that doesn’t require UV tanning or awful odor and color. Tarte Braziliance Self Tanner is a great self tanner that leaves your skin with a warm glow, NO orange, and very faint smell. Every product claims, “No odor!” and but that’s a lie. This self tanner has the least odor I’ve experienced.

8) Halogen Leopard Print Scarf – It’s scarf season! I’ve been opened to a whole new world of scarves. Isn’t it sad that I just learned what an Infinity Scarf is last year?! One of my favorite prints is leopard print. I traded a Fabletics sports bra for a leopard print scarf on mysubscriptionaddiction.com a month ago and I’m in LOVE! I couldn’t find the exact same scarf, but I found one by Halogen from Nordstrom that is pretty adorable too.

Halogen

9) Free People Floral Mesh Fit & Flare Dress – The brand Free People is boho chic which really compliments Fall using natural earth tones. I typically go for the beige, brown, and gold sweaters and tops, but I fell in love with this dress and was lucky enough to score it at Platos Closet for $20 instead of $128! Some people don’t like Free People because it’s over priced, but if you take the time to bargain shop I promise you’ll find great deals. Pair this cute dress with leggings, tights, knee high socks, boots, and scarves!

10) Pandora Radio Christmas Station – What’s a Holiday Season without Christmas music?! I just upgraded to Pandora One for ad free listening, so I won’t be interrupted with Black Friday or Christmas deals allllll Holiday season. That is definitely worth the $4.99 a month. Frank Sinatra all day and night, sign me up!

What’s your Top 10 Must Have’s this Fall and Winter?

#ModaVox Box from Influenster

My ModaVoxBox from Influenster arrived on my doorstep Friday afternoon! I was getting worried it was lost in the mailing system, but alas, it was not!

I was really excited for this box since it was curated with beauty fanatics in mind. “Moda” means “fashion” or “fashionable.” Lately I’ve been OBSESSED with beauty products and experimenting with make up. I had no idea what would be in this box until I opened it.

influenster2

The box was really heavy when I brought it into the house, so I opened it immediately! I wanted to see what goodies I got before I left the house for Halloween. I was doing my make up as a vampire for this Halloween so I was hoping there might be something in there I could use for my costume.

I opened the box and I received the following:

1) Rimmel London Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves MascaraRV $5.99

2) Rimmel London Moisture Renew LipstickRV $7.49

3) Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lip LinerRV $6.49

4) Puffs SoftPackRV $2.49

5) Hair Food Moisture Hair MaskRV $14.99

6) Swiss Miss Simply CocoaRV $2.29

7) Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin MoisturizerRV $6.99

8) Resource Sprintg WaterRV $1.49

opened2

I thought it was an interesting hodgepodge mix. I guess I was expecting something more like a beauty subscription box. The Resource Spring Water, Puffs, and Simply Swiss Miss threw me off a little bit. Turns out the Resource was VERY handy the next day (Saturday) in aiding the cure of my massive hangover! This water was packed with electrolytes which ultimately saved me! My husband Derek didn’t have any so he was much worse off than I. Definitely useful! I ended up very happy to have it!

Derek has a cold and/or allergies right now so I’m sure the Puffs will be gone by the end of the week. He said they feel just like Kleenex, but he wouldn’t spend extra money on them. We’re both pretty stickler when it comes to spending extra money on paper products we don’t necessarily need. We don’t even own paper towels or napkins! He’ll usually through a roll of toilet paper just on his nose in a week. It’s really nice to have Kleenex for him though, he’ll use the entire pack!

I haven’t tried the Swiss Miss yet, but I’ve been dying to all weekend. I will probably drink it tonight after dinner, it sounds really delicious! Perhaps I’ll pick up mini marshmallows and whip cream at Costco today, make it a decadent treat tonight!

I really liked the Rimmel London products I received! I would never think to buy them in the store. I typically don’t wear lipstick, but if I do it’s usually a neutral color. I received a bright pink color! It’s really fun but not practical for me. The mascara was really nice to receive too, although I didn’t really enjoy how ‘curvy’ the wand was. I wasn’t sure how to use it, and I didn’t really see a difference it might have made. The lip liner was cool! I don’t typically use lip liner, so I really enjoyed that this was a translucent/clear lip liner. I really hate the look of bold lip liners, so this was a great pick!

I’m the most excited to try out the Hair Food Mask I received! Retail Value of $14.99! It’s sitting in my shower waiting for me to use it today. It smells phenomenal and is made of honey and apricot oil. This product will be great for rehydrating your hair during the Winter, I don’t think this could have been chosen as a VoxBox item at a better time! This is also a NEW brand altogether, I feel privileged to be one of the first to try it complimentary. You can find this item on the shelves at Target.

Lastly, the mini travel and purse size Jergens for dry skin. I have never really been a fan of Jergens, I prefer the Organix brand for lotion. However, this is a great item for Winter and for keeping in your purse. I will be bringing this to my work place to keep at the desk. We’ll see what my co-workers have to say and see how miraculously moisturized my hands stay this Winter!

Altogether my ModaVoxBox had approximately $50 worth of products, so I’m a very happy and thankful girl! Thank you so much Influenster for another great VoxBox! I appreciate the continuous review opportunities and hope you continue choosing me for future VoxBoxes!

Buys of September

Happy Sunday everybody! I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!

Yesterday Derek and I celebrated the end of his LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) that he has been studying for all Summer. He MIGHT have to retake it, but it’s not uncommon for people to have to retake it a second or third time. He said it was extremely difficult and very nerve wrecking, even I was feeling butterflies for him all day yesterday! I had to keep myself busy. I cleaned the house, I worked out, I took the dog for a walk, and I stood in my kitchen with my phone in my hand at 1:48pm waiting for his call. He called about 1:50pm and I immediately picked up before a second ring! He’s not sure how he did, but he did the best he could. I know he couldn’t have done anything more to prepare, he truly did his best. If he does have to retake it, at least he knows what to expect and where to improve. I’m extremely proud of him!

Anyways, I wanted to try something new with my blog. I wanted to share a few of my favorite buys of the month! I’ve become pretty sauvy with eBay, selling unwanted items, flipping items, and scoring deals! Here are a few of my favorite purchases:

naked2collageNaked 2 Palette – I’m absolutely in love with this eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay. This is definitely my favorite Naked palette out of the 3 they have to choose from. I also own the Naked 3, which is a lot more ‘pink’ based in their eyeshadows. I love the deeper taupe colors in the Naked 2, I feel like they compliment my skin tone much better. I honestly love both of them, but this would have to be my favorite. I scored this beauty on eBay for $30! This palette would originally cost $54 at Sephora.

naked3collageNaked 3 Palette – The Naked 3 eyeshadow palette is much ‘pinker’ in color like I mentioned above. Take a look, you can definitely notice! When I first received this palette I got a little too excited with experimenting right before work, and I ended up looking like a beat up street hooker! AHHHH! Definitely played with the pinks and purples a little too much. I would definitely recommend playing with the colors to make sure they match your skin tone. My skin tone is a medium-tan, so the Naked 2 palette compliments me much better. I love them both though, practice makes perfect when you’re learning what works for you. I only paid $15 for this on eBay! This palette would originally cost $54 at Sephora.

toofacedcollage

Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette – I love the colors of this eyeshadow palette and how they separate the eyeshadows by look and style. It also comes with a pamphlet to teach you how to apply them. I have probably used this palette the most. It’s so easy to apply and I really love the pigment. I received a Crown Eyedshadow Brush from my September Ipsy glam bag, so I’m using it for this palette. I purchased this item on eBay for $20. This eyeshadow palette would originally cost $36 at Sephora.

pureconnect3
Brooks PureConnect 3 – I was in DESPERATE need of a new pair of running shoes! I spent all weekend a few weeks ago searching for the Brooks PureFlow 3’s. I went to Downtown Bellevue and asked every store and NO ONE had them! I even called a few places and no one carried them. I wanted to try them on before buying them. I went home and did more research online, it a lot of avid runners said they disliked the 3’s and preferred the 2’s, so I thought I would try ordering the PureFlow 2’s online from a place that accepts returns so I could return them if I didn’t like the fit. NO WHERE ONLINE CARRIED THE PUREFLOW 2’s IN MY SIZE! So after another hour of research, I started leaning towards the PureConnect 3’s. I bought them straight off the Brooks site for $100 (sorry no deal, but I’m willing to pay extra for my feet!) and they accept returns no questions asked up to 30 days after purchase. I tried breaking them in on Thursday and running in them on the treadmill was fine! Walking uphill on the treadmill was excruciating though. They have a much higher arch than my previous shoes, Kinvara 3. I also had to tie them at the top lace hole to keep my heels from slipping out. I will definitely need to give them another shot on the pavement outdoors.

detention jacket bench

Bench Detention Jacket – I sold my Ravish Sands competition bikini online for $100 and scored 2 Bench jackets in return! This is one of them I purchased for the cold Winter months ahead! It’s so freakin’ warm inside, I love it! I scored this puppy on eBay for $59, this jacket would originally be $120 or more. I also bought this jacket brand new with tags still attached. Pretty stoked about my purchase, I’m getting the hang of eBay!

Well that’s a wrap! I would highly recommend eBay for early Christmas shopping, the steals are endless! Enjoy!

Product Review: Ipsy – September Glam Bag

finalseptember

Stars: 4/5

Cost: $10 a month

Products:

1. September Ipsy Bag – I absolutely love this bag! It’s super cute, and a great size, bigger than previous months. I will definitely be using this for travel to and from work, school, or out of town. Fits everything I need! Can’t wait to see what October’s bag will look like!

2. Cailyn Tinted Lip Gloss / Love Affair – Full Size!– I love this color! Definitely perfect timing for the cold winter months ahead and the holidays. My only complaint is how much it dries out my lips. If you use vaseline as a base, it won’t dry out!

3. Crown Brush / Infinity Shadow & Crease – When I saw that I would be getting this eyeshadow brush in my September Bag, I got really excited! I just recently bought the Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay and Natural Eyes Palette by Too Faced so this tool is perfect! I’ve been using  it for a week now and so far I love the softness of the bristles and how much pigment it will hold.

4. LeeAnni Ego 3 in 1 – Sample – I haven’t tried this sample yet, but I really love the idea of having a toner, serum, and moisturizer all in one. This product is vegan and all natural! Can’t wait to try it out. Has anyone else tried it?

5. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Conditioning Mask – Sample – I have really fine oily hair, so I probably won’t use this. I read up on this product though and it sounds amazing for anyone looking for a natural hair mask without parabens, silicones, and phthalates. The 4 main natural ingredients are avocado, almond oil, rosehip oil, and aloe. Sounds like it would be a treat for dry, damaged, parched hair! Not to mention, super hydrating for you scalp with the Winter months ahead.

6. Pacifica Red Red Wine Nail Polish – Full Size! – Another all natural vegan cruelty free product! This color is amazing for Fall and Winter, I love the deep burgundy red. The cool thing about this polish is that it will change shades in the light! The polish can reflect a more transparent blood orange-like color or a deep burgundy wine. I love it! I’m still a loyal fan of Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel but this polish is a nice change.

Pros: I loved this months bag. The only bag I had to compare it to was my June Glam Bag I received in July with all the left over stock products thrown together. I felt like these products were more personalized and higher end, and that I would be using them more frequently.

Cons: During my Ipsy test I said I had fine oily hair, so I don’t know why they sent me a conditioning mask for dry damaged hair. Although I’m sure it’s an awesome product, I probably won’t be using it. Who knows! I might though if Winter magically strips my hair of all it’s natural oils! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my review. What did everyone else get in their September Glam Bag?!

Enjoy!

PRODUCT REVIEW: SAMPLE SOCIETY BY ALLURE SEPTEMBER BOX

1(2)

Stars: 5/5

Cost: $15 a month

Products:

1. Restorsea Revitalizing Eye Cream Full Size – This was definitely the BEST product in the box! They included a FULL SIZE Revitalizing Eye Cream that retails for $85! This product couldn’t have come in my sample box at a better time. I’ve been working 52-55 hour work weeks for almost 2 months now, so you can imagine my absolute need for this product, especially considering how many Executives I encounter from around the world. This definitely made the month worth every penny and more. I have been using this for about a week now and I definitely look less tired, alert, and ready to conquer the world. You apply this product under your eyes once at night and once in the morning. It slightly stings, so be careful! $85

2. LORAC POREfection Mattifying Face Primer Deluxe Sample –  This was a very tiny sample, I can maybe get a few uses out of it. I don’t use too much foundation or powders on my face, so I don’t benefit from this as much as the next person might. I used it today with my BareMinerals powder foundation and it was meh, I wouldn’t spend the extra money for something I could get at the drugstore for less and it would be the same thing.

3. Alterna Caviar Repair RX Re-Texturizing Protein Cream Deluxe Sample – First of all, I love the smell of this product! It smells citrusy and delicious, definitely refreshing! At first I didn’t think I would have any use for this product, I thought it was for frizzy damaged hair only and acted as a deep conditioner. Any hair type can benefit from this product! It makes your hair silky smooth and soft and gets rid of any frizz and split ends. Use this product 1-3 times weekly to get the best results. I would definitely consider buying the full size of this product!

4. Tarte Brazilliance Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes  – This sample box came with 3 of these self tanning face towelettes. At first I was bummed thinking to myself, “O well that’s a tease!” I had the opportunity to use these over the weekend for a friend’s wedding and WOW! Streak free even tan with very minimal self tanner smell! The box claims that there is zero smell, but ANY self tanner has least a small distinct self tanner smell. I would definitely consider buying a larger box for special events such as a night on the town, weddings, dinner dates etc. $8

5. Givenchy Fragrance Dahlia Divin Fragrance Sample – I’m a huge fan of fragrances, but I’m also pick as hell! At first I really liked this scent, very woodsy with sandalwood and patchouli undertones, still warm and feminine. After a while though the smell sort of turned ‘tart’ I guess you could say. It went from sexy feminine to teeny bopper. I’m not sure what happened! It might just be my natural scent combined with the perfume! Don’t let my judgment stop you though, you’ll have to smell for yourself. $1

Pros: Loved, loved, LOVED the full size eye cream obviously. Sample Society has been doing a great job keeping their buyers happy with a good balance of samples, deluxe samples, and high end full size items. I loved the tanning towelettes too, I will be definitely stocking up on these for future events!

Cons: Only thing I didn’t like was the tiny LORAC primer sample. Even though the Givenchy Dahlia Divin wasn’t my style, I still appreciate trying new scents.

Enjoy!

mysubscriptionaddiction.com

To all my fellow Subscription Box Bloggers!

If you have not heard of the website: mysubscriptionaddiction.com YOU NEED TO CHECK IT OUT!

This site is the bees knees for those of us who are scoping out potential subscription boxes to buy for review purposes. The subscription boxes range from beauty, clothing, food, fitness, DIY projects, vegan, organic, mens, adult etc. If you’re having a hard time deciding which box you want to purchase next, this site has an extensive list along with plenty of reviews from other subscribers. There are coupon deals and you can create your own wish list to keep your desired boxes organized.

The best part is the Swap page! If you’re unhappy with an item you received in your box, or it’s just not not your thing; you can list your item on the swap page and trade with another swapper. You can customize your profile letting other swappers know what items you’re interested in and you can also do multi-item swaps. Here’s a swap I recently did:
Screen Shot 2014-08-31 at 10.59.18 AM

I am subscribed to Fabletics which is an awesome workout clothing site for women. You can subscribe paying $49.99 a month for an entire outfit, the best part is you can skip a month if you like within the first 5 days of the month if you decide you don’t want an outfit. If you don’t skip the month, you will be charged the $49.99 which will be added to your account as store credit if you don’t choose and outfit.

I recently ordered a couple items, a few of which didn’t fit the way I wanted them to. The Adventura Camo tank listed above was a little too large for my taste, so I posted it on the swap page of mysubscriptionaddiction.com. Another swapper liked my item, so they sent me a request to swap with them. Once I receive a request to swap with someone, I go to their profile with all their available items listed and choose what I would like. I chose the leopard print scarf listed above. Once I choose what I would like, the swap proposal is sent back to the other person and they either accept or decline. In my case, the swapper accepted, so we had a trade! We’re both responsible for shipping costs of the item we send to the other person. After we exchange shipping information and send our items to each other, there is a section where we can update the tracking number so we can track our packages.

The swapper I exchanged with already received her item from me and left me great feedback. I should be receiving my new scarf in the mail on Tuesday!

It’s a really awesome site! I’ve already done 3 swaps. So far I’ve noticed that a lot of people are interested in my Fabletics items. I’ve swapped a sports bra that was too small, this tank top that was too large, and a switch back tee that I didn’t like the fit.

Anyways my fellow Subscription Box Bloggers, you should definitely check out this site! It’s really awesome and full of great boxes and items to be swapped for! Enjoy!

Product Review: Sample Society by Allure August Box

beautybox2

Stars: 4/5

Cost: $15 a month

Products:

1. Oribe Surfcomber Mouse 2.5oz – I was the most excited for this product when I saw I would be receiving this in my August Sample box! I’m a HUGE fan or Oribe products. I love the quality, the smell, and how long the products last. When I did a little more research on the product, I was kind of skeptical since I originally thought it was a texturizing spray, turns out it’s a mousse. I don’t usually use mousse in my hair when I’m rockin’ the short hair doo. However, I was extremely impressed with how far one dollop goes, and how much volume, texture, and hold it had. Oribe, you’ve done it again! I would definitely buy the full size of this product in the future. A 5.3oz full size of this product costs $37.

2. Too Faced Melted Liquefied Lipstick Peony – I’ve recently become interested in this girly thing called lipstick and lip gloss. I have tried a couple lipsticks from Smashbox and Marc Jacobs, and the lip gloss I use is NYX. This Liquefied Lipstick is amazing! Although I’m not a huge fan of the bright pink I received, I think it’s genius to have a lipstick that goes on like a lip gloss, but has the matte finish and durability of lipstick. A full size of this product costs $21.

3. Ciate Cha Cha Cha Mini Paint Pot – I haven’t actually tried this nail polish yet, but I think the vibrant color is great for Summer. This would have been a great sample to receive in June or July, but it tends to get a little colder in preparation for Fall in August. Even though I haven’t tried this polish yet, I probably wouldn’t buy it since I rarely do my nails. On the rare occasions I do my nails, I will be faithfully choosing Sally Hansen’s new Miracle Gel polish. Great colors, shine, and lasting durability 🙂 A full size of this product costs $8.

4. Jane Iredale Longest Lash Mascara – You want the honest truth? I really hate ANY mascara samples. I am true to only one mascara, and although it might not be the priciest thing on the shelf, it gives amazing volume and length. I am an avid user of Covergirl. However, this sample great for a compact emergency backup for my purse, gym bag, or travel. A full size of this product costs $33.

5. Kate Somerville Dilo Oil – When I saw I would be receiving an itty bitty sample of this dry oil I was pretty bummed out. I have naturally oily skin anyhow so I didn’t think I would use it, plus it seemed like such a small sample I would hardly have enough uses to see a difference. I decided to try it anyways, and man oh, man! Just one use I saw a huge difference in my skin’s overall tone and softness! A little goes a loooong way too. You use only 2-4 small fingertip dots on your cheek bones, forehead, and chin. I really am in love with it, this product definitely ties for ‘favorite’ with the Oribe Surfcomber Mousse! A 1oz full size product costs $65.

Pros: This was my first box from my Sample Society monthly subscription and I was thoroughly impressed! They could have ditched the nail polish and mascara, but my absolute love for the Oribe Surfcomber Mousse and Kate Somerville Dilo Oil make up for it. I would definitely buy the full size of the Oribe but the Kate Somerville Dilo Oil is a tad bit too steep in price for me. Who knows! Maybe the sample will continue to do wonders for me and I’ll cave in and buy it!

Cons: The mascara was my least favorite product, but I’m VERY picky with my mascara, so don’t base any opinions off my bias!

Enjoy!
