Fitness Post Update!

I know my posts have taken a non fitness related turn, but I’m back with some updates! I know its been a while since I’ve shared a workout or progress photo, so here it is:

Welp, that’s me!Β I’ve been working out an average of 4 times a week; some hectic weeks 3 times, and other weeks where I’m on top of the world 5 times. It’s been fun! I’ve been switching it up with Zuzka videos at home, running home from work since we’ve been having great weather, and working out with Derek at the Vo2 Performance Center doing the ‘Derek Formula’.

Today was actually the first day that I went to the gym and used the squat rack in 2 months! Needless to say, I’m pretty weak sauce, but that’s okay. It’s not my goal to push heavy weight, I need to be pretty light in order to keep running. I’ve made such huge improvements on my speed and endurance with my running! When I first started long distance running after competition training, I felt like I could hardly lift my feet, my quads felt so damn HEAVY!

I weighed myself for the first time in months last week. I’m sitting at 123lbs, definitely not my marathon training weight of 118lbs or my competition weight of 111lbs, but I’m okay. I’ve got abs, a juicy butt, defined hamstrings, and toned arms so I’m beyond happy and blessed.

I haven’t been a freak about food, I still use myfitnesspal for my own awareness. I don’t count my macros or kick myself when I east one more cupcake than I should have. I eat when I’m hungry, stay pretty consistent during the week and splurge a little on weekends.

I’ve been able to swing working out with full time work and full time school, this quarter is pretty mellow so far.

Right now I don’t really have any larger fitness goals on the horizon. I really want to run a half marathon for Thanksgiving and I’ve been entertaining the idea of a full marathon next year. My main focus is on my education right now and working towards my goal of becoming a wildlife conservationist.

I’ve actually been selling a lot of items on eBay and I just discovered how to link a percentage of my earnings to my favorite charity. I am donating to the Defenders of Wildlife now! So excited to be doing something beneficial for wildlife, even if it’s a small amount.

Anywho guys, that’s what I’ve been up to! Stick around and perhaps I’ll post a workout this week!

New Products!

INFLUENSTERYipee, I just found out that I qualify for a complimentary Sally Hansen VoxBox from Influenster for testing purposes, I can’t wait to get my goodies in the mail πŸ™‚ If you’re new to my blog, Influenster is a FREE website where you can connect all your social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Blog etc. to increase you impact score when you review products. The more followers you have on social media, the more desirable you are to be chosen for complimentary products for testing purposes. You can complete reviews and answer questions about products you are knowledgeable about, increasing your score, and earn brand badges from thousands of companies.

Currently I am enrolled for my Ebay badge and Sally Hansen badge. For my Ebay badge I submitted 3 detail oriented guides on chosen topics on how to shop or sell on Ebay. They are under review, but once they are approved I will have won my Ebay badge AND a $25 gift card for Ebay! Easy huh? You can check out my Ebay guides at: Jessica’s Ebay Guides.

Once I receive my Sally Hansen VoxBox in the mail, I will be able to check it in online. From there they will provide me a list of tasks to complete to earn my Sally Hansen badge! VOILA!

On top of that great news, I will also be receiving a complete supplement line from my sponsor Femme. They are launching their new Zip, Fit, Firm line of pre-workout, BCA complex, and a Carnitine blend for fat loss. I’m extremely excited to try it out, especially since I’ve been so happy with their Peach Skin Firming Cream. I’m not sure when it should be arriving in the mail since they are based in Australia and it took nearly 5 months for my first product to arrive. It turns out they sent my Peach Skin Firming Cream several times, it just kept getting lost in the mail somehow. I’m not surprised, IPSY had a hard time finding my house too!

Plenty of great opportunities ahead! I’ve been very blessed this past year and I’m extremely thankful. I will admit I was very discouraged when Quest Nutrition didn’t follow through with their offer to become a brand ambassador for them. I’ve worked really hard to get where I’m at today, putting in the effort to reach out to plenty of company’s, promoting myself and my lifestyle, and not giving up. It’s been a crazy ride, but things are starting to fall into place.

Progress with IIFYM – 1 Week!

Left photo: Taken one week ago, Sunday July 13th / Right photo: Take yesterday, Sunday July 20th

Yippy skip! Week one progress on IIFYM has been quite delightful! I’ve got my abs back, I feel like I’ve slimmed down immensely all over my body. My arms, back, hips, legs, and midsection have been a lot tighter all week. It’s great!

I was able to eat a stack of pancakes yesterday smothered in peanut butter, coconut flakes, and brown sugar and that’s what my abs looked like afterwards! IIFYM has provided me freedom to eat whatever I want while getting the results I want.

More good news! I measured my waist yesterday and I’m back down to a size 26 inch waist! My comp waist was 24 inches, and I blew up to 28 inches only 2 days after comp! I’ve been fighting to get back down to 26 inches, which is where my waist measures in at when I’m at my happiest and healthiest. 26 inches and the abs come out to play πŸ˜‰

The real challenge will be the next few weekends with Bachelorette parties and weddings. Throughout the festivities, I haveΒ decided to give myself one day a week where I don’t track anything. I have my workouts planned so that I’m fulfilling my 5 days a week.

Saturday I went for my first outdoor run in MONTHS! It felt great πŸ™‚ My hips and shins are a little achy, but constant stretching will prevent any future injuries. I only ran 4 miles, I could have ran more but my joints weren’t agreeing with the hard pavement after a couple months of resting. I decided to listen to my body, we’ll try again later this week.

Happy Monday everybody! Get out there and sweat πŸ˜‰

Motivation Tuesday??

It can be Motivational Tuesday, right? I was surfing Facebook today when I stumbled upon another Emerald Cup goodie. There’s a lot of photos that I’m finding months after the competition that I’ve never seen before! Yup, that’s me in the middle! The gal on my left (your right!) placed 2nd, I placed 7th. Funny thing, I don’t even remember standing there next to those gals! I’m pretty happy with my posing though!

This is my motivation! Although I was 110lbs and starving, I KNOW I can achieve a healthy strong build similar to this build through IIFYM. Can’t wait to get to the gym and kill my workout now! LET’S GO!

Day 1 of IIFYM!

Alright people, I’ve been MIA for a while. I wasn’t feeling very well last week, but now I’m energized and have my head in the game! Last week I tracked my macros as a tool to assess my current eating habits WITHOUT IIFYM and I discovered that I eat when I’m hungry, some days a lot, some days very little. I eat too much fat and not nearly enough protein as I should.

Today was the first day of IIFYM and I gotta say I’m pretty happy with out flushed out I appear. Today was leg day so my legs look stronger, and my waist looks a little more tapered and defined. I need to lose overall body fat, so we will reassess in 2 weeks from now!

So excited! I joined the IIFYM Women’s Group on Facebook and they have been so positive and encouraging, it’s great to be a part of a social media group that is so diverse and focused on their fitness goals. Here’s to smashing some goals this week! Happy Monday πŸ™‚

Photo Shoot with Amir Zahed April 5th

Hey Guy!

Here are the rest of my photos from my shoot with Amir at the beginning of April, 3 weeks before my competition. So happy with how they turned out! Amir has helped me out soooo much during this entire process, huge shout out to your great work!

These photos are definitely motivation to kick my ass back into high gear. I CAN look like that again, and I can do it so much healthier this time around. It’s summer time and I want to feel comfortable in my own skin and flaunt my hard work. A rockin’ bod shouldn’t be a temporary goal, something you achieve, walk out on stage and completely kiss goodbye a mere 2 days later. Maintaining a tight physique is a full time job, a commitment, you can’t cheat… it WILL show.

These photos serve as a reminderΒ of all the hard work I have put in for 5 months. They remind me that I can achieve anything if I put 110% of my heart and soul into it. If I want something, I can have it, I will make it mine.

First Week Back in the Gym!

Hey Guys,

I feel like I’ve been a little M.I.A this week. The workplace was a definite MADHOUSE all week and I’ve been trying to find a healthy balance between working out and coming home, sitting on the couch watching TV, eating endless amounts of food….. Good news, I’ve eaten almost all the sugar out of the house so next week should look much MUCH better as far as my diet is concerned.

1 Week Transformation, post comp shape is deflating!

I’ve been eating really well at work this week, even though I haven’t gotten into the groove of hitting my macros accurately. I had delicious sweet BBQ Chicken or Steak salad for me at lunch. One day I had an apple and split a Theo chocolate bar with Lazaro. The chocolate craving has been STRONG this week…. yesterday morning explained all of that though. I’m going to be very blunt here….. for 5 months of my training my period completely stopped, so having it back is an utter relief!

New workout buddy, Katniss!

The gym has been pretty great this week too! I have a new workout partner who I’m trying to catch up to speed. She’s keeping up really REALLY well, I’m actually very impressed. Her name is Kat and we work together, we were friends long before she got a job with me at Microsoft. This week we started the 4 week Erin Stern training program. Successfully completed the first week with a couple workouts left for this weekend.

I really enjoy the structure of the training plan, but to be honest I’ve been modifying exercises to increase resistance/difficulty or increasing reps, adding drop sets, etc. I haven’t been wearing my Polar watch this week so I haven’t been able to calculate my calorie expenditure. Next week I will start wearing it again to see how hard I’m working and determine if I should re-write some workouts, workout longer, etc. It felt really great to be back! I’ve been so embarrassed to talk to anyone because of my weight gain. I keep thinking to myself, “They are gonna be so disappointed in me. They saw me a week ago and I looked so cut, and NOW I look soft everywhere.”

You know what though? I truly enjoy sporting a softer figure. Of course I have goals and areas of improvement, but I’m so happy to be back on track to living a normal life and finding a healthy balance. I can indulge when I want, I have choices, I have freedom. Some times I still can’t believe I can say ‘Yes’ to anything I want to eat. Haha, I think I’ve gone a little overboard with saying ‘Yes’ these past few weeks, but I’m working on self control and moderation. With that being said, if you have a myfitnesspal account, you should DEFINITELY add me and hold me accountable! You’ll notice I’ve been extremely inconsistent, too embarrassed to admit to the internet world I’ve eaten 3 boxes of Girl Scout cookies this week…. YIKES! Next week marks a fresh start, and don’t worry, I won’t be saying ‘Next week….’ at the end of next week πŸ˜‰

I can’t wait to get back into full swing. I definitely felt MUCH stronger this week, I put those extra calories from last week to good use. I was happy with my squatting weight. Even though I was able to increase my weight, I’m still too embarrassed to tell you how much πŸ™‚ I have a couple goals I want to share with you guys so you can hold me accountable!

1) Complete the 4 Week Erin Stern Training Program – I will be using my body space as a guide for this training plan, however, body space isn’t very ‘user friendly’ so I won’t be tracking my workouts on their site. I will try to share my workouts as often as possible throughout the week! Please, please, please hold me accountable as much as possible, my readers truly motivate me to work harder every day! Without my readers, follower, and supporters I feel I wouldn’t have done half as well as I did during my competition training. You guys have been the best πŸ™‚

The lil’ black dress EVERY girl needs, I plan on rockin’ this one for my birthday

2) Lose Weight by my BirthdayREAD THE REST! I really hate the way that goal is worded. I don’t believe in losing weight, I believe in burning fat, building muscle, and changing body composition. I also really don’t enjoy setting specific dead lines for such goals, especially when the deadline is CRAZY soon…. but my birthday is in 4 weeks, and I would like to shed some post comp fluff, show off the muscle that I KNOW is hiding underneath so I can rock a cute black cocktail dress, look good, and go dancing with friends πŸ™‚

3) CONSISTENTLY HIT MY MACROS! – I felt and looked my best when I was following IIFYM early in my competition prep. I was hitting my numbers consistently, allowing myself more calories overall, building muscle AND leaning out like crazy! I became miserable when I thought I needed to completely eliminate Quest Bars and nut butters, the 2 things that honestly kept me sane during the early stages of my prep. I didn’t understand why I needed to eliminate certain foods if I was accurately hitting my macros. This time I’m gonna train and eat how I want. IIFYM is so flexible, there’s no reason to binge or be miserable if you’re following this meal plan.

4) Begin running outdoors this Summer – The sun is beginning to come out more often than not, so I need to take advantage of the good weather and get back out there hitting the ground running. Is it sad that running up 5 flights of stairs at work leaves me completely winded? I feel like my cardiovascular capacity has decreased considerably. I’m my happiest outdoors running, I need to get back on it! Mapmyrun app and I are gonna be best fran’s again πŸ™‚

So excited, the trail looks amazing!

5) Register for Summer Blast Half Marathon at Redmond Watershed (Saturday, August 23rd, 2014) – YIPPEE! Local half marathon that only costs $41 if I register before July 25th! I marked the event on my calendar and it appears that weekend is clear, and if I begin training at the beginning of June after my 4 Week Trainer program is finished, I will have a sufficient 12 week training time period. Way too perfect….. destiny is telling me I need to register. Hello carbs! Hello bagels, cream cheese, and pastaaaaa!

6) Continue my Zuzka workout videos – I stopped doing my Zuzka workout videos as often during competition prep, but I miss them so much! I felt like her videos challenged not only my lean tissue development, but my cardiovascular strength as well. Her videos are so fun, quick, effective, and can be done at home if I’m truly too lazy to take the bus into Bellevue and drag my ass into the gym. I love how lean my legs get from all the burpees, jump squats, and every form of lunge she makes me do. Her exercises target EVERY muscle of the body. Even my arms and back get lean! Not to mention her abs are killer and she sure knows how to set mine on fire.

Whewwww! Those are my goals thus far! Quite a few of them, but a really great start πŸ™‚ So excited for this summer….. it’s gonna be phenomenal!

Update – Posing Practice Video

Hey Guys!

Here’s my most recent posing practice video. 12 days out! So nervous, exhilarated, and ready πŸ™‚ My goal is to practice posing EVERY DAY at least 30 minutes a day until my walk, poses, turns, and transitions are second nature. Working on adding that sass πŸ˜‰

Let me know what you guys think! Advice, pointers, and feedback is welcomed and appreciated!
