FitBliss Fitness – Check In #2

Checking in! First week of my program with FitBliss Fitness was IMG_3612
AWESOME! Not once did I feel hungry, I ate anything I wanted by exercising balance, I fit in most of my workouts and if I couldn’t make it to the gym, I made it up at home. I enjoyed pizza, burritos, chocolate and wine. What more could a gal ask for?!

In fact, I lost 6lbs since my first weigh in when I completed my application with FitBliss Fitness! Yesterday I sat at a nice 122lbs, the lowest I’ve seen my body weight since competing in 2014. My body is used to sitting at 125lbs average. With marathon training in 2013, my body sat at 119lbs. My ultimate goal is a healthy 115lbs, but I understand muscle weighs more than fat, and I would much rather take the muscle even if it comes with extra lbs!

My abs are beginning to make an appearance again, my booty is a tad perkier, I feel STRONGER, and my hammies come out to play on occasion. Everything is looking a bit more defined, so I’m excited for week #2!

There’s always room to improve. Last week I was unable to make my gym workouts since my new dog son named Ruky flew in from Korea last Wednesday! I wanted to monitor him closely to see if he was house trained which he is! All he needs is obedience training. That being said, this week I will definitely hit my gym workouts. I also need to work on hitting my macros more accurately! Practice makes perfect.

Here are my measurements as of Monday, December 14th:

Small of Waist: 26 in
Waist: 28 in
Hips: 38.5 in
Right Leg: 22 in
Left Leg: 22 in
Right Arm: 10.5 in
Left Arm: 10.5 in

I will update my measurements next Monday, December 28th.

I hope everyone has an awesome Holiday Season!

Soooo, I’ve been meaning to do this for pretty much a YEAR now.

I really suck at iMovie, video editing, video recording in general, YouTube, you name it. But I’m accepting the challenge to create an Exercise Video Library so you guys have something to reference when I post workouts, and so I don’t have to spend hours scouring YouTube for the right video.

Today is the first day of Spring Quarter so I probably should have been working on this during Spring Break, but whatever, it’s a start! I am vowing to watch less TV during my free time (keyword less, I’m not banning it completely!) so I can focus more on school work, fundraising, volunteer events, and creating a decent size Exercise Video Library for the workouts I write.

Here’s my first exercise video! Details can be found in the video description. I will hopefully be posting more this week so I can have a full workout posted by the weekend. Stay tuned for more, and in the mean time, invest in a 25lb kettlebell!

Drained….

Well, I was super amped on Monday.

Now I’m not 😦

I’m tired, my face is breaking out, and I’m ULTRA sensitive…. wtf happened?! Aunt Flo, come and go, get your business over with. Yikes, I feel like a train wreck.

Monday’s workout didn’t quite go as planned. My new Victoria’s Secret Runway Front Close Sports Bra broke before I could even workout in it! Guess I need something better to support these tata’s. I’m gonna look into a different style, I still really love VS Sports Bras. Sooooo, I had to workout in my normal bra….. HOLY SHIT. So much jiggle and so much bounce, and so incredibly awkward!

jennajenna2

After my plyo warm up I stuck with just lifting so I wouldn’t have to deal with the awkward bouncing. I finished my workout with spin bike intervals. It was a great quick workout, but the unexpected sports bra mishap required some serious patience and decision making. There was no way I was gonna skip my workout or go home, I was already at the gym.

Speaking of the gym. I really, really, REALLY dislike the time I go. You would be surprised, a 30 minute change in my work schedule makes a huge difference for gym traffic. So many more tool bags, no open squat rack, it’s hot, it’s crowded, and it’s a mess. I really don’t like the gym. I’m actually thinking about cancelling my membership and working out at home or Derek’s Vo2 Performance Center facility.

On top of my dislike for the gym, I’ve been suffering back pain. I don’t want to call it an ‘injury’ because that would imply more seriousness, but I think it may have reached that status. The pain will go away with rest, but will act up again with physical activity or a wrong twist. I absolutely can’t stand sitting still, I NEED to move often, sweat often, and be out of breathe often. I will have to rewrite my workouts accordingly, perhaps put the Zuzka videos on hold and do more static workouts. I love burpees, jumping, and twisting, but I have to take care of my body first.

I was so excited to receive my 18lb dumbbell set from Amazon yesterday! I tore open the packaging when I got home from work, I had plans to use them, but I quickly discovered they were broken into two pieces each inside the vinyl casing. What a freakin’ disappointment, hot damn! I also received my second Victoria’s Secret order of 3 bras, only to discover this morning they were all too small. I’ve been ordering 32C for as long as I can remember. Either my knockers got bigger or Victoria’s Secret started making bras with sizes running smaller.

**Le siiiiiiigh**

Today I’ll be using the spin bike and doing a light workout with minimal strain on my back, then I will be returning all my new bras and getting resized. Yay!

I’m itching for the weekend…..

It’s Only Been 1 1/2 Weeks?!

By golly, my stats are suffering! I haven’t written in what seems like a millennium, but I’m pretty sure its been a week and a half. I’ve been busy wrapping up the quarter with my essays getting more difficult, more chapters of reading assigned weekly, and math making less and less sense to me. 2 more weeks! Holy crap!

Registration for Winter Quarter classes opened this morning. I thought I would have the pick of the crop, but I was surprised that damn near every English 201 online class was FULL! I settled for an online English 201 Research Paper class by a professor who was rated a B- on RateMyProfessors.com. In all fairness, he scored higher than my current English 101 teacher who has a C+. So far I have a 95% in my current English 101 class, so I’m not completely distraught.

I also registered for Biology 108 – Human Biology. Another online class that fulfills my lab requirement. Biology 108 is worth 6 credits. I was going to take Biology 100, but the only online teacher available received such terrible scores on RateMyProfessors.com that I couldn’t bring myself to register for it.

I will also be taking Math098 on campus Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30pm – 7:40pm. Looks like I will be keeping the same schedule for Winter Quarter! So psyched to keep my same routine, it’s actually not so bad.

I’ve been keeping busy hitting my fitness and health goals. I feel like some weeks this quarter I completely let myself go and only reached 3 weekly workouts. Sometimes it’s difficult to stay on top of school and training. I’ve been making it a goal to physically GO to the gym at least twice a week, and the other 2-3 days I can choose the gym or do HIIT Zuzka videos at home.

Last week I made it to the gym twice, did a killer leg session on Tuesday and an upper body, ab, and cardio workout on Thursday. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I did Zuzka videos at home. Holy crap her new content is KILLER! You’ll never believe it, I actually spoke with her via email directly last week!

Her original website was taken over by her previous employers and re-named Sweat Factor with new trainers added. I tried it out for a few weeks but when I noticed she wasn’t posting new videos I was upset and worried. I reached out to Sweat Factor asking where she went, and they abruptly told me my membership was cancelled and Zuzka was no longer a part of Sweat Factor. I managed to find her NEW site and tried using my old login which was invalid. I emailed her new site and was honored to speak to Z herself! I asked her what happened and she explained the whole story about her working for Sweat Factor under a work visa, how they owned all her old content, videos, etc. Now she has her own company and I love her new website layout and workouts. I might actually get a feature on her blog too!

On top of that great news, I resigned my athlete contract with Femme Nutrition and received new Peach skin tightening cream for my tush, and their new supplement line of pre-workout, carnitine, and BCAA’s! This month I didn’t receive the carnitine supplement but I received 2 flavors of their pre-workout. The Passion Fruit flavor is to die for! It gives me good clean energy without the anxiety and jitters afterwards. I used to get really bad anxiety from pre-workout like Red Line, Speed Stack, and Endo Rush. The Pineapple BCAA’s are also super tasty, I’m very pleased with the taste and quality Femme Nutrition has produced. As a sponsored athlete I receive monthly packages from them and features on their blog.

MORE GREAT NEWS!

I was nominated as the lucky grand prize winner on Influenster for the Victoria’s Secret VoxBox! My YouTube Review of the Incredible Victoria’s Secret Sport Bra and workout crops landed me a $500 Victoria’s Secret Gift Card! I was absolutely thrilled when I opened the email last week! I literally had to rub my eyes to make sure I was reading the amount correctly. Apparently there were fifty $50 gift card winners and one $500 gift card winner. I feel so blessed that I was chosen!

VS2All and all its been a pretty great week and a half since I last wrote. This week is a 3 day work week, we have a 4 day weekend with plenty of food, sleep, family time, and time spent with the hubby! 2 more weeks until Christmas break, so excited! I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend spent being grateful with family 🙂

WOD – Full Body Blast

I hope everyone is enjoying the crisp Fall weather!

Although the sun is shining in Seattle, the air is beyond freezing so my outdoor run is being traded for an indoor at-home workout. I guess that just means I need to shop for running gear from Lululemon, bummer 😉 I have my eye on a couple items.

The workout I wrote for today includes plenty of cardio, strength training moves, booty and ab focus. All of our favorite things right?! All you need is a Kettlebell, but if you don’t have one, you can replace the 30 reps of Kettlebell Goblet Squats with 50 reps of Air Squats.

The first set of exercises is cardio focused. This is your warm up to get your heart pumping a lil’ bit.

The second set of exercises is booty focused. Really challenge and focus on all the muscle of your lower body. Sink back into the heels, keep back straight, shoulders back, and core engaged. Slow and controlled movements.

The third set of exercises is ab focused. You should be feeling really good by the last round of this third set. Make sure to stay hydrated and STRETCH afterwards! This type of workout is best done twice a week paired with 2-3 lifting days and a long distance cardio day.

If you’re not sure how to do a certain exercise, feel free to reach out to me and I can send you a YouTube video link, or you can look on YouTube yourself. Let me know how you like this workout!

One Year, My How Time Flies…

Holy shit.

It’s already been a year, my how time flies.

It’s kinda crazy how we are constantly changing as human beings, making mistakes, learning from them, growing, and changing our perspectives and the way we look at things.

I started this blog to document my bikini journey to the stage, to hold myself accountable, and to inspire others. I started this blog in hopes and dreams of making it big and becoming a sponsored athlete. My waking thoughts until the moment I laid my head down at night were glitz, glam, photo shoots, a perfect body, and a career in being a fitness model.

For the longest time I was trapped inside my own head, completely lost in myself, and I turned the very thing I loved into an obsession that would tear me apart physically and mentally.

Screen Shot 2014-10-23 at 6.34.10 PM

This is me 5-6 months ago. Hungry, unhappy, and erratic. April 2014.

The dream wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I sacrificed friends, family, happiness, and myself for 2 minutes and 47 seconds on stage and afterwards I said to myself, “That was it?!” I didn’t feel those anxious butterflies, I didn’t get those endorphins or the adrenaline rush, I didn’t get that overwhelmingly ecstatic feeling that I’ve heard about from so many fellow competitors.

The best part about that day was meeting all the great uplifting gals back stage, and the relief that it was over and I could eat that god damn greasy burger, pretzels with queso, and fries piled high.

After all was said and done, I couldn’t even have peace after that! I suffered from ‘post comp’ blues all Summer! What the hell! This ‘thing’ wasn’t gonna let go. I felt like a freakin’ bloated whale carcass! Another 3 months of body issues and internal drama with my self esteem.

FINALLY. I finally found happiness in not giving a fuck. Not giving two shits how many grams of fat I had that day. You know what fat does? Keeps you fuller longer and provides you with energy at your mundane desk job or hours spent studying. Not giving a flying fuck how many carbs I went over. You know what carbs do? Provide you with energy for those strenuous workouts and long distance runs.

Point is. I’m happy now. Truly 110% happy with where I’m at mentally, physically, and how I’m achieving my fitness, work, school, and life goals. That’s what it’s all about people.

You know what the funniest part about all of this is? Now that I’m truly happy, and promoting a realistic healthy life style, I feel like my ‘following’ or ‘stardom’ has definitely gotten knocked down a few pegs. Sure, maybe it’s my lack of selfies or douche-bag-trainer-posts but what the hell. At first it ‘hurt my feelings’ that people weren’t worshipping my ridiculous abs or telling me how shredded I am but the truth is – I AIN’T FUCKING SHREDDED NO MORE! I don’t need to weigh 110 pounds consisting of only bone, muscle, and failing organs to gain approval from the internet.

Update

This is me today. Healthy, strong, and happy. September 2014.

This is me, uncut, raw, and real. Take it or leave it.

From now this blog is just gonna be an ebb and flow of my thoughts, fitness related or not. You can choose to keep reading if you like, but if real life thoughts aren’t your thing you can move onto the next blog, I ain’t crying.

For those of you who have been reading, thanks. It means a lot that some people find interest in my sporadic posting. I hope we can have another year together! If not, I’m fine flying solo.

Have a great night, and thanks for reading.
