First Week of Spring Quarter

1. Started the Week Off Strong – It was a good start. I felt confident, strong, and ready to start Spring Quarter on Monday. I spent the weekend cleaning my house like a mad woman, every surface, every nook and cranny, every speck of dust and every hair. I also completed some killer workouts, surely this week was gonna be F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C. I had this shit on LOCK.


2. Got a Little Bit Rocky – It usually takes me a week or two to figure out how the teacher lays out the course online via Canvas. I was a little overwhelmed with the UN-organization of some, the extensive amount of discussion required for Math, and the fact that I do NOT have the appropriate hardware specifications for the Math software. Stressful much? So much for trying to get ahead.crying

3. Downright Anxious on the Verge of Tears – Since I wasn’t about to spend $$$ for Microsoft software to install on my MacBook for Math, I decided to drop the course and pick up 5 credits elsewhere. Most classes were full, except an interesting Anthropology class. Sure, I’ll try that out. Little did I know, web registration was closed! I frantically called the office for 45 minutes, no answer, no voicemail! WTF?!  FINALLY someone picks up and they walk me through a Late Registration Request form online. I emailed the Anthropology instructor directly and I’ve been monitoring my inbox constantly for her approval. She has until tomorrow at 3pm… my stomach is churning with anxiety! I need to know so I can buy the book and catch up on reading over the weekend! If I can only do the 10 credits instead of 15, I hope my financial aid won’t be affected! I’m going ballistic over here!

4. Laughed it all Off & Accepted Reality– After much overanalyzing, stressing, running around like a crazy person between the bookstore and instructor offices I decided I needed to CHILLLLL. Whatever will be, will be. If I can snag that Anthropology class to complete 15 credits this quarter, sweet. If I can’t, at least I have more time and energy to focus on my other two classes, which would  be kinda nice. If I get a fee, I get a fee, and I won’t be an idiot next time, but it’s highly unlikely they will revoke my Financial Aid privileges period. Pshhh, online Math and Math discussions. No thank you! Laughable. I rather take a campus course for Math.


5. Plan on Eating All the Food – So to comfort myself after the unneeded stress and anxiety, I plan on eating ALL the food this weekend. Derek and I are going to Portland for his 27th birthday, so we’ll probably be drinking beer, and eating nachos, voodoo donuts, and some dank ass pizza. The possibilities are limitless!



Spring Break Projects and Recap!

I’ll be real with you…. I’ve been working one this ONE post for a week.


I’ve been struggling to find “inspiration” to write a blog post. I’ve been on Spring Break for two weeks now, with only a few more blissful days to look forward to, and I haven’t written nearly as often as I would like.

Last quarter wasn’t that fun. My attention was averted to studies, and when I wasn’t studying I was working out, and when I wasn’t working out I was working, and when I wasn’t doing any of those things I was either sleeping or stressin’ myself SICK. On a positive note, I earned scores I’m proud of! I have high hopes for Spring Quarter, and I look forward to writing more often!


This past week I’ve been asking myself, “What should I write about? More workouts? Recipes? Progress photos or challenges?”

Let’s be honest. Recipes are NOT my forte, and I haven’t really been working out as hard as I would like to be showing off ‘results’ or ‘progress’. The past few months have been all about ‘maintaining’ and fitting in my pants. After all, I wouldn’t even have the time to visit the store in search of another pair!

So I thought to myself, “Why not challenge yourself?”

Winter Quarter my fitness focus was to workout at least 4 times a week and stay within a certain caloric range, not really paying attention to macros. I’ve been suffering knee problems and tight IT bands so running has been out of the question. As much as I love my home workouts with my kettle bell, I’ve been going a little insane cooped up in the house.

SO….. Spring Quarter my goals is to workout 5 times a week, get myself back on a macro plan during the week with more freedom on weekends, and to rehabilitate myself back into running. To get a head start on these goals I bought a scale on to keep my macros on point, I completed 5 workouts last week, and my husband took me for a low key trail run last Friday to assess where my body’s at. Good news! No pain! He taught me a few warm up exercises and how to pace my stride, I just have to take it SLOOOOW and restrain myself from powering through any pain.scale

Buying a scale has been extremely helpful! Even if I’m not 100% on point down to the milligram, it’s a GREAT awareness tool! I’ve seen a HUGE difference! Instead of grabbing the entire bag of Skinny Pop and dragging it to the couch with me, I measure out the appropriate serving amount by ounces and voila! I still get my treats and I look and feel better at the same time. Thanks to one of the fitness gals I met at Emerald Cup last year and follow on Facebook & IG, I scored a great deal on a scale! Amazon was running a coupon so I only paid about $16 for it!

I have also been working on becoming an Ambassador for Lenny & Larry’s! I am absolutely OBSESSED with their cookies! They are sinfully delicious, packed with protein, made with wholesome ingredients, and great for an active and busy lifestyle. I am in Phase 2 of the application process. I just uploaded my Lenny & Larry’s instavid to Instagram…. everyone should go check it out, follow me, and LIKE it! You should also consider trying their new Snickerdoodle cookie….. to die for.

On top of my fitness goals I set a volunteer and “experience of a life time” goal to travel to Bali this August with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for less families. The idea was sort of a spur of the moment decision, but I couldn’t be more happy with my decision! I want to do something with my life that isn’t for me, but also isn’t for people who are will be ungrateful or unappreciative. I have always wanted to do volunteer work and travel, I always imagined I might join the Peace Corps, but after much research I really like what I’ve read about Habitat for Humanity. Not to mention, my ultimate career dream is to engineer sustainable homes in the future, so working with my hands will give me great experience.


I created a GoFundMe account and have the goal to raise approximately $6,500! The Program Costs of $2,100 are due June 24th which is really soon, so even if I don’t reach my fundraising goal by the deadline, I plan on going next year for sure, either way the money WILL go to Habitat for Humanity. The remaining costs are a buffer estimate of airfare which I will have to cover myself, vaccinations, visa fees, living expenses and bills while I am away etc. I’m pretty nervous, excited, and thrilled! I would love and appreciate any help.

I guess I have a full plate this quarter! When I sit still for too long, I take on more projects 😉 Stay tuned for workouts, updates, and more, have a great weekend!


Finaaaals Weeeeek!

Man, I feel like I’ve been saying, “Spring Break is almost here!” for forever now.

The countdown has been LOOOONG and grueling, but I will be DONE with Winter Quarter in 3 days.


Finals Feels got me like…..

This quarter wasn’t fun at all. I may have figured out how to time manage and how to study efficiently with this course load, but it still hasn’t been “fun”. Human Biology was okay except the beginning and end….. structure and functions of cells to genetics. Ughhhh.


I basically taught myself Math, my teacher isn’t the easiest to listen to. Thick accent and monotonous. Since I’m a self-taught learner with math, Spring Quarter I will be taking the next level course online.


English 201, let’s just say I’m excited to be DONE with English forever now. Sure I’ll have to write plenty of papers, but I think Philosophy – Critical Thinking will help out in that arena much better, which is why I signed up for Philosophy 115 Spring Quarter.



Right now my grades sit between 91% – 93%….. Everything depends on Finals. They could make or break me. I really, REALLY, REALLY want to stay in the 90% range! Study Blue has been my best study buddy, I’ve been constantly draining and charging my iPad by using the Study Blue app alone.

I’ll be disappearing until next week, which I guess doesn’t come as a surprise 😛

After Monday I’ll be a freeeee student for two weeks, FUCK YEAH!

Amazing Weekend…..

I had an absolutely amazing and MUCH needed weekend!

I managed my school load and scheduled my assignments, projects, and labs so Friday and Saturday were completely open to do whatever the hell we wanted.

Derek and I went to the Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios at Marymoor Park with our friend and his lady friend. It was SO much fun and enchanting. I left the show wishing I could ditch my responsibilities to join the circus…..

Saturday was fantastic. Derek and I walked from our house to Lake Washington. We discovered new spots and hidden beaches, it was relaxing and reflective. After walking around town and adventuring for 6 hours, we went home, ordered a delicious Chicken Primo pizza from Pagliacci, and snuggled up to watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Perfect end to a perfect day.

Sunday was spent lazing around, eating, napping, and trying not to stress out about the week ahead.

This week I have midterms. Gross. This quarter has been less than exciting, so pumping myself up to do ANYTHING school work related has been difficult.

I can’t wait until next quarter, I plan on taking Logic instead of Math 99 and either Philosophy or Political Science, haven’t decided yet. I’m still not sure what the third class might be. I WISH my schedule allowed me to take THIS class!!!!

Summer Farewell


This weekend at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival

Summer is nearing it’s end and Fall will be upon us in a few short weeks. Is it just me or did time fly by insanely quick? I hope everybody had a great Summer and did everything on their Bucket List. To farewell Summer, Derek and I went on a motorcycle ride to Mukilteo Beach to enjoy some brews at the Diamond Knot Brewery. Lucky for us, they were having the Lighthouse Festival as well! We got some early Christmas shopping done at the local vendor booths and sat on the docks enjoying the view. It was a very relaxing weekend, much needed for both of us.

In the next 2 weeks I’ll be going to school for the first time in 5 years! It’s pretty nerve wrecking, but I’m anxious to start making changes in my life and to aim my focus in new areas.

I don’t know if I ever blogged about it, but about 3-4 weeks ago I came across a bump in my Financial Aid. In 2008 I had a withdraw from Winter quarter at Bellevue College that was voiding my Financial Aid for this upcoming Fall. After much coordination with Derek’s friend in Financial Aid, Ernesto (bless his soul!); I was instructed to send in an Appeal with my explanation of what happened during that time. That was the year I ran away from home and experienced a lot of issues with my adoptive family, so I attested to that and had 5 witness letters written by friends and family. I’m truly blessed to have such good friends and family! Within 24 hours of me asking them each for the favor to write a witness letter, I had received them all and sent them in!


Financial Aid was approved! Hell yeah!

MY AID WAS APPROVED! So much stress has been lifted off my chest, none of it would have been possible without the help of Derek’s friend Ernesto.

I’m enrolled in English 101, Nutrition 100, and DON’T LAUGH…. Math 097. Yesterday morning I bought my books, holy hell those are a whole other expense! Thankfully I’ve been working 52 hour work weeks to earn overtime pay to make up for the wedding expenditures this Summer and help pay for books. I can’t wait to be on a normal schedule though! The money is nice and my mental health is actually doing pretty well, but I want to have more time in my day to where I’m not just working 6:00am to 6:30pm and vegging out on the couch until bedtime.

I have been staying on top of my workouts! I’ve been running 5-7 miles home on my 12 hour shifts days, and doing plenty of Zuzka videos on my normal 8 hour shift days or weekends. I honestly haven’t been to the gym in 3 weeks. I’m excited to go back though to work on my booty, I’m gonna diiiiie in the squat rack!

My diet hasn’t been on point but whatever. Those freakin’ mini muffins Catering leaves in the break room are too damn delicious! I do feel better when I eat better, so I’ve been making small changes. I’ve been introduced to the Pink Lady apple, so that’s my new favorite snack. Now to make apple pie with it…. yummmm!

Lately I’ve also been on an eBay kick as you might haven noticed from my latest post. I’ve been selling a lot of my old Lululemon gear, along with a couple other items. Kind of addicting! I’ve also been scoring some pretty sweet deals. I bought a Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay for $15! YES, it’s 100% authentic. I used a $25 gift card from Influenster and only paid $15 out of pocket. I’m sure you all care about my eBay finds (sarcasm) but I had to tell someone about my lucky find! eBay has been earning me a little bit of extra cash, I like it! I’ve been Goodwill shopping and flipping my purchases.

I’ve also been writing plenty reviews. Influenster has been gracious enough to choose me for a lot of their VoxBox programs and campaigns. I should be getting my VSX Sports Bra in the mail any day along with a pair of VS workout pants! I should also be getting my Allure Sample Society box for September by the end of the week. Apparently, Ipsy has decided to reinstate my cancelled membership without my permission and have me join again, so I should be getting a Glam Bag at the end of the week as well. I’ll give them another shot…. even though they shouldn’t be reinstating my membership without my permission. If I don’t get my Glam Bag at the end of next week, I’ll give them hell.

Anyways, sorry for being a shitty blogger lately! I’ve been extremely busy and about to get busier. Hope everyone has a great week! Stay tuned, I might do something unusual and post a workout…. **GASP!**




My blog hasn’t really been structured lately, in fact, I don’t believe my blog ever had structure! I just sorta’ post when I feel like it, or sometimes I’ll post when I realize my page views are dropping and I have been doing a shitty job keeping my readers engaged. Some times it’s hard to have really great content ‘come to you’. So here’s a hodge-podge of random thoughts for your reading pleasure….

I recently added a few new categories to my blog. I’ve expanded my product review labels since I recently joined Influenster, Sample Society by Allure, Fabletics athletic apparel by Kate Hudson, and I’m a sponsored athlete with Femme. Now I’m just sittin’ pretty until my goodies arrive in the mail so I can tell you how awesome or not awesome they are!

In the mean time, I’ve been creating goals for myself with the new school year fast approaching. This will be my first time back at college in 5 years! It’s a pretty monumental moment for me! I will be working overtime at my job with a full course schedule. I’ve never actually done that before! It will be hard to sacrifice some workout time for school, but I won’t give up one or the other, I WILL find a balance! tina2

My typical goal is to visit the gym 5 times a week, working out anywhere between an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and 45 minutes.

While I’m enrolled in school I’ve set my goal for at least 4 times a week, working out the same amount of time, but working out SMARTER. I will be incorporating more HIIT treadmill sprints and incline sprints with plyo sets in between. I easily torched about 750-800 calories in a short amount of time during my competition prep with this style workout. Currently I am lucky if I burn up to 600 calories with my lifting schedule. Both types of workouts have their benefits, I personally benefit more from cardio and plyo workouts, especially when I have limited time. I will still incorporate two lifting days, mostly leg days, but if my arms are feeling skimpy I’ll do some upper body as well. I usually workout upper body 2-4 times a month! Not often!

I’ve also adjusted my macros so I will be eating less carbs. Not much less, but I definitely feel like I didn’t need 186 grams per day! We’ll see how my body reacts.

If I become too overwhelmed with the schedule and can’t fit my workout in after work, I can also run to work in the mornings while good weather lasts. My work has a shower, all I have to do is bring a small shower basket with hair products and small make up bag to keep in my locker. Voila! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

This will be my work and school schedule beginning Monday, September 22nd:

Monday and Wednesday:
-Work:    6:00am to 4:30pm
-School: 5:20pm to 7:40pm

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:
-Work:    6:00am to 2:30pm
-School: No classes! Workout and HW

I’m secretly really excited for school 🙂 Am I terrified because it’s been 5 years?! Absolutely! I really need the distraction from work, I need to feel like I’m working on something to achieve a purpose for MY future. I love the convenience my job; the hours, the pay, benefits, and the pace; but I know that there is something else for me on the horizon.

Is it weird that this almost feels like farewell?! I’m about to be insanely busy, I really hope I can cope with the jam packed schedule. My future blog posts might be few and far between, and when I do post they may be rushed and just a brief update. To be honest, I might migrate back over to the old school pen and notebook journal. Something about physically writing with pen and paper soothes me. I will write as often as I can, until next time……


Forgot my gym shoes…. again

Happy Friday! What better way to begin your day than to battle the down pour of rain at 4:45am to take the bus to the gym, only to realize you forgot your gym shoes?! Damn it!

Welp, there goes my workout for the day. There was no way I was going BACK out into the rain to take the bus to the gym when I could stay home and torch just as many calories, doing my plyometric workout in my training schedule for Friday, but at home without equipment. I burned a good 500 calories in 60 minutes this morning, not bad! Felt super awesome, definitely boosted the rest of my day.

This morning I did 4 ZWOW videos: #107, #106, #104, & #101. My favorite video would probably be #104, really BURNS your legs out! Whewww, had me outta breathe! One more week until my photo shoot! Trying to tighten everything up so I’m camera ready. Right now I am taking Xpel to flush out subcutaneous water weight to make my muscles ‘pop’. Xpel is a water retention pill that is temporarily used, specifically for competitions. I wanted to make sure that it works before I decide taking it for Emerald Cup. I’m on day 3 right now. Results are still unclear at this point.

I also raised my calorie xpel2consumption last week by 300 and I’ve been feeling really, “thick”. I dunno if it’s because Mother Nature is over a week late and she could visit any time therefore I’m bloated, if I’m not working out hard enough or long enough, or if it’s really raising my calories. I was just so starving on 1,200! Especially with how intense my workouts have been and how early I’m up. I will admit, I’ve been dipping my spoon in the peanut butter jar and chocolate peanut spread waaaaay too often this week. I’ve just been craving FOOD! Ughhhh…..


Here’s my plan though! Next week marks the beginning of a serious 8 week cut. I’m gonna do it GRADUAL though. Instead of ‘boo-hoo-ing’ about how thick I FEEL and cutting back down to 1,200 calories I’ve written up the following plan:

  • Sunday February 23rd to Saturday March 8th (2 weeks) –
    1,400 calories a day – Macro Ratio 35%/35%/30%
    Training – 6 days a week, 3 ‘two-a-days’ with added cardio
  • Sunday March 9th to Saturday March 22nd (2 weeks) –
    1,300 calories a day – Macro Ratio 35%/40%/25%
    Training – 6 days a week, RE-EVALUATE
  • Sunday March 23rd to Comp Date (5 weeks) –
    1,200 calories a day– Macro Ratio 30%/40%/30%
    No more Cheat Meals!
    Training – 6 days a week, RE-EVALUATE
  • Beginning Saturday April 19th – No gassy food, begin depletion

I’ve been really good about my workouts, I just trip up with over indulging in the kitchen. Too much of a good thing aka peanut butter, can be a bad thing. I have been making great progress overall, I don’t give myself nearly enough credit. I always feel like I can do BETTER. We are our own worst critic though right? I don’t even know how many times I repeat that to myself.

I hope I can remain consistent and level headed when I start to get the ball rolling for Spring Quarter! I filled out my FAFSA and I qualify for Financial Aid! Yippee! I qualify for Pell Grant and student loans. I have applied, have been accepted, so now I need to bring in name change documents (since the last time I went there I was a ‘Tolentino’ not ‘Frank’), and set up a meeting with an advisor to figure out if I need to take an assessment test, which classes I need to begin with, and figure out any additional costs. Spring Quarter begins at the beginning of April! Holy shit that’s soon, and so close to Comp Date!

On top of all that, I’m working overtime next week to earn some extra moolah. EEEeeeek! Competition prep, school prep, and 48 hours next week?! Not to mention, I will have to adjust my schedule AGAIN when I start working mornings. My manager doesn’t have a date for me, but my guess is within a month at most I will be working the 6:00am to 2:30pm shift, in which case I will try to run TO work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays instead of running home FROM work like I do on closing shift. Let’s get shit done! Here’s next week’s break down:

  • Monday, February 24th – Morning workout! Work my normal 11:00am to 7:30pm schedule. 4 mile run home!
  • Tuesday, February 25th – Work a 12 hour 6:00am to 6:00pm schedule! Wheww! 45 to 60 minutes cardio of choice at the gym after work
  • Wednesday, February 26th – Morning workout! Work my normal 11:00am to 7:30pm schedule. 4 mile run home!
  • Thursday, February 27th -Work a 12 hour 6:00am to 6:00pm schedule! 45 to 60 minutes cardio of choice at the gym after work. TENTATIVE – Posing practice at David Barton Gym
  • Friday, February 28th – Morning workout! Work my normal 11:00am to 7:30pm schedule. 4 mile run home!
  • Saturday, March 1st – Hot Yoga session and Photo Shoot with Amir
  • Sunday, March 2nd – Easy outdoor run, weather permitting. Meal prep and REBOOT!

Holy crap! ALSO….. I may potentially be stopping by the Bellevue College Student Building to bring my Notarized Name Change Document and I.D. to complete my registration; either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday. Depending on how I feel after next week I may choose to opt out of over-time for the next week so I can finish tying up loose ends for school.

*Le siiiiiiiigh* I really hope I’m not digging myself a hole here….. Shit is about to get CRAY!

Anywho, apologies for the stressful ramblings…. not a very exciting post. Just me organizing the thoughts in my head, it tends to get pretty crowded up there. Have a great weekend everybody! Happy Friiiiiiidaaaaaay!
