Product Review: Ipsy – September Glam Bag

Stars: 4/5

Cost: $10 a month

1. September Ipsy Bag – I absolutely love this bag! It’s super cute, and a great size, bigger than previous months. I will definitely be using this for travel to and from work, school, or out of town. Fits everything I need! Can’t wait to see what October’s bag will look like!

2. Cailyn Tinted Lip Gloss / Love Affair – Full Size!– I love this color! Definitely perfect timing for the cold winter months ahead and the holidays. My only complaint is how much it dries out my lips. If you use vaseline as a base, it won’t dry out!

3. Crown Brush / Infinity Shadow & Crease – When I saw that I would be getting this eyeshadow brush in my September Bag, I got really excited! I just recently bought the Naked 3 Palette by Urban Decay and Natural Eyes Palette by Too Faced so this tool is perfect! I’ve been using  it for a week now and so far I love the softness of the bristles and how much pigment it will hold.

4. LeeAnni Ego 3 in 1 – Sample – I haven’t tried this sample yet, but I really love the idea of having a toner, serum, and moisturizer all in one. This product is vegan and all natural! Can’t wait to try it out. Has anyone else tried it?

5. Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair Conditioning Mask – Sample – I have really fine oily hair, so I probably won’t use this. I read up on this product though and it sounds amazing for anyone looking for a natural hair mask without parabens, silicones, and phthalates. The 4 main natural ingredients are avocado, almond oil, rosehip oil, and aloe. Sounds like it would be a treat for dry, damaged, parched hair! Not to mention, super hydrating for you scalp with the Winter months ahead.

6. Pacifica Red Red Wine Nail Polish – Full Size! – Another all natural vegan cruelty free product! This color is amazing for Fall and Winter, I love the deep burgundy red. The cool thing about this polish is that it will change shades in the light! The polish can reflect a more transparent blood orange-like color or a deep burgundy wine. I love it! I’m still a loyal fan of Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel but this polish is a nice change.

Pros: I loved this months bag. The only bag I had to compare it to was my June Glam Bag I received in July with all the left over stock products thrown together. I felt like these products were more personalized and higher end, and that I would be using them more frequently.

Cons: During my Ipsy test I said I had fine oily hair, so I don’t know why they sent me a conditioning mask for dry damaged hair. Although I’m sure it’s an awesome product, I probably won’t be using it. Who knows! I might though if Winter magically strips my hair of all it’s natural oils! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my review. What did everyone else get in their September Glam Bag?!

Product Review: IPSY – June Glam Bag

NYX Butter Gloss2

Wearing Ofra Eye Brow Liner and NYX Butter Gloss

1. Sacred Tiare Styling Cream by Carols Daughter – This product is meant for dry, frizzy, out of control hair. It’s meant to tame the frizz and moisturize your hair. I recently cut my hair so I won’t be able to try this. I have very fine hair anyways, so I don’t think this product would be a great product for me. I did a lil’ research on their line though and a 3oz bottle of this is pretty affordable $12 on average.

2. Butter Gloss by NYX Eclair Shade – I recently wrote review about the NYX Butter Gloss and I LOVE it! The Eclair shade IPSY sent me  is pretty light on me. I really like their Tiramisu shade. I would definitely recommend their glosses, only $5.99 at your local drugstore.

3. Black Kohl Eyeliner Pencil by Starlooks – I’m really excited to have mostly full size items in my IPSY bag! I’m usually a huge fan of liquid eyeliner, but I’ve heard great things about Starlooks and I’m excited to try this. It glides really nicely, with eyelid primer it should last all day. This product retails for $12. Starlooks also has their own subscription box too, check it out!

4. Eye Brow Pencil by Ofra – I’m usually a huge fan of powders, and that’s honestly because it’s a lot easier to fix powder mistakes with a Q tip than it is to fix eye brow pencil mistakes! I tried this on, and I’m sure with practice I’ll get better, but I actually really like it! Definitely gives a bolder look, I’m usually very modest when it comes to my eyebrows. This pencil retails at $13.

5. Fragrance by Realtree – This is the fragrance description off the website: “Realtree for Her opens up with the sweet taste of pomegranate, a hint of persimmon and an exotic scent of orchids. It blends with lotus blossom and champaca flower and it’s followed by the rich scent of amber, the transient scent of violets and the depth of mahogany wood.” I was really excited for this fragrance! This was probably the item I was the most excited about and I’m a little disappointed in the scent, size, and how the tube squirts. The tube wouldn’t squirt so I had to take the lid off and tap the top on my wrist. At first I liked the scent, but after a while I found it to be too sweet and it smelled like cotton candy. Kind of a teeny bopper scent, meant for Junior Highers. I’ve only been wearing it for 45 minutes and the scent is completely gone. A 3.4oz bottle is $19.99. A good quality bottle of perfume costs roughly $60, so you know this isn’t top notch quality.

Pros: Only $10 for 3 full size items and 2 sample items?! Hell yeah! Just the 3 full size items would have cost roughly $30. I’m happy with what I received, and the concept of a monthly sample subscription bag is so cool! I love it!

Cons: I really enjoyed my June Glam Bag! Sadly, this is the only Glam Bag I’ll be receiving. I had a horrible experience with loosing this bag in the mail and tracking it down through Customer Service. I literally just got it in the mail today! I cancelled my IPSY membership when they wouldn’t respond to me for weeks and July was fast approaching. O well, does anyone else have any great make up bag subscriptions?

Monday Madness

This week is gonna be CRAY!

I’m pretty damn excited though, I’ve got big things on the agenda. Today I’m trucking through a 12 hour shift so I can work a short day tomorrow. Tomorrow I’m going to Bellevue College to take my COMPASS Placement test so I can register for classes for Fall. To be honest, I’ll probably epically fail the Math portion, but I’m confident in my English testing skills.

Failed math test 6

After my COMPASS Placement test I plan on heading to the gym and whipping out a killer workout to make up for losing a workout today. We all know how much I hate skipping Mondays, but it has to be done.

As far as workouts this week I’m pushing my comfort zone with a spin class, FINALLY swimming since post show, and attempting to run to see how my left foot reacts. I still want to run a half marathon, but August may not be possible at this point. I might also want to do a relay triathlon depending on how my running is, or how good I get at swimming. Open water swimming is a whole new can of worms though.

On a different note, I’ve signed up for an online social media program called ‘Influenster’ which I’m pretty excited about! Influenster is a FREE online site where you can create a profile and review products you enjoy. By connecting your social media accounts to this profile, your social media ‘influence’ is calculated, and depending on how heavily you influence the internet, you can be sent FREE products to review! I’ve been going to town writing reviews for dog toys, beauty products, apps, web sites, etc. I just received an email saying I qualify for the ‘Beauty Box’. NOTHING IS GUARANTEED YET THOUGH! I took the survey they emailed to me, and I will find out in a few weeks if I qualify for a VoxBox of free products to test and review. I don’t want to get my hopes up too high since Femme was a complete bust, and Quest Nutrition has been very unorganized about the events they need staffing for and disappointed me with their lack of communication.

Can’t wait to see what the verdict is! I’ve been filling out surveys like mad, and I really enjoy reviewing products! I want to purchase a monthly Beauty Subscription as well so I can review products in my blog. I signed up for Ipsy but was sorely disappointed when I never received my June glam bag. I emailed Ipsy Care 4 times and never received a response! Finally I decided to cancel since July is coming up and I didn’t want to be charged for July when June never arrived in the mail. After cancelling (and conveniently writing a poor review on Influenster) I received a response and they should be sending me another June glam bag. However, I’m still cancelling and won’t be signing up again. There are other great subscription boxes out there! Check out! They have almost EVERY subscription box imaginable categorized and the site is very user friendly. There are so many awesome choices, I can’t make up my mind!

Stay tuned this week! I’ll post some workouts and update you on classes I plan on taking next quarter! Thankfully this week is a short week with the upcoming holiday, whewww! Much needed! Have a wonderful week 🙂
