Dreaded Monday Morning…..

Blergggg….. it’s Monday.


I was so ready for it, so prepared, up until I realize I dropped my badge to get into work somewhere between home and my walk to the bus.


Damn it.

Not only that, but today is the first trial run of our new shift schedule: 6:15am to 2:45pm. We haven’t been meeting “compliancy” with our lunch time. 15 minutes makes a HUGE difference in my day. We’ve been operating much slower and have to rearrange our entire daily routine. I might have to start drinking coffee again….


Not to mention, dealing with everyone’s last minute requests. When everyone else is ill prepared, we get the shit end of the stick. Sometimes I feel like I literally have to hold people’s hand. If you can’t do your job then you should probably scoot over and let someone who knows how to do it do it….. like me. How do you get paid more than me?!


I really just wanna go home, go to bed, and never return. I like sleeping. I could get used to that. Stay-at-home-me who sleeps, cleans, bakes, and eats.


There’s a million other things I’d rather be doing now. I would even rather be doing homework right now. I have 1,000 word essay due Friday, 2 huge chapters and quizzes in Nutrition to read, and a Math test to prepare for. My time could be utilized much more efficiently.

Blergggg, this week SUCKED

Thank god the weekend came…….

This week was a little bit to crazy for me.

Work was nuts, my hormones and emotions were crazy, school was a lot more demanding this week than last week, and I was so exhausted that fitting in my workouts was near damn impossible.


I worked out 3 times this week. Not super proud about the lack of days spent getting a good sweat on, and I probably felt shittier for that exact reason. I feel better when I work out! I feel like I can think straight, prioritize, and get shit done afterwards.

Next week will be better.

On top of the insanity from school I had a 45 hour work week and 2 workloads. One of the gals I back up for at the Digital Crimes Unit is in Cabo for 6 days (lucky bitch) so another gal and I are covering her inbox and greeting her tours for her. I’m not full time there so it’s hard to completely grasp the context in which her tour requests and emails come in. I hope I’m not just creating more work for her when she gets back. Practice makes perfect though! I have waaaaay more of a clue with what’s going on than I did 6 months ago!


Because I’ve been so stressed with work and my English paper I’ve been working on all week, I completely neglected to do a huge step in my Nutrition 100 project! The step was worth 10 points out of the 100 points for the assignment, so hopefully I kick ass at my 2 exams and earn some extra credit along the way to stay above a B+. I’m really hoping for no less than A-‘s in any of my classes this quarter.

Anywho, just thought I’d update you so you’d know WHY I disappeared. I’ll be more active next week! Workouts and Pumpkin recipes! Now I’m gonna make some notes, drink so alcohol, and go to sleep…. ZZZzzzzz




My blog hasn’t really been structured lately, in fact, I don’t believe my blog ever had structure! I just sorta’ post when I feel like it, or sometimes I’ll post when I realize my page views are dropping and I have been doing a shitty job keeping my readers engaged. Some times it’s hard to have really great content ‘come to you’. So here’s a hodge-podge of random thoughts for your reading pleasure….

I recently added a few new categories to my blog. I’ve expanded my product review labels since I recently joined Influenster, Sample Society by Allure, Fabletics athletic apparel by Kate Hudson, and I’m a sponsored athlete with Femme. Now I’m just sittin’ pretty until my goodies arrive in the mail so I can tell you how awesome or not awesome they are!

In the mean time, I’ve been creating goals for myself with the new school year fast approaching. This will be my first time back at college in 5 years! It’s a pretty monumental moment for me! I will be working overtime at my job with a full course schedule. I’ve never actually done that before! It will be hard to sacrifice some workout time for school, but I won’t give up one or the other, I WILL find a balance! tina2

My typical goal is to visit the gym 5 times a week, working out anywhere between an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and 45 minutes.

While I’m enrolled in school I’ve set my goal for at least 4 times a week, working out the same amount of time, but working out SMARTER. I will be incorporating more HIIT treadmill sprints and incline sprints with plyo sets in between. I easily torched about 750-800 calories in a short amount of time during my competition prep with this style workout. Currently I am lucky if I burn up to 600 calories with my lifting schedule. Both types of workouts have their benefits, I personally benefit more from cardio and plyo workouts, especially when I have limited time. I will still incorporate two lifting days, mostly leg days, but if my arms are feeling skimpy I’ll do some upper body as well. I usually workout upper body 2-4 times a month! Not often!

I’ve also adjusted my macros so I will be eating less carbs. Not much less, but I definitely feel like I didn’t need 186 grams per day! We’ll see how my body reacts.

If I become too overwhelmed with the schedule and can’t fit my workout in after work, I can also run to work in the mornings while good weather lasts. My work has a shower, all I have to do is bring a small shower basket with hair products and small make up bag to keep in my locker. Voila! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!

This will be my work and school schedule beginning Monday, September 22nd:

Monday and Wednesday:
-Work:    6:00am to 4:30pm
-School: 5:20pm to 7:40pm

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:
-Work:    6:00am to 2:30pm
-School: No classes! Workout and HW

I’m secretly really excited for school 🙂 Am I terrified because it’s been 5 years?! Absolutely! I really need the distraction from work, I need to feel like I’m working on something to achieve a purpose for MY future. I love the convenience my job; the hours, the pay, benefits, and the pace; but I know that there is something else for me on the horizon.

Is it weird that this almost feels like farewell?! I’m about to be insanely busy, I really hope I can cope with the jam packed schedule. My future blog posts might be few and far between, and when I do post they may be rushed and just a brief update. To be honest, I might migrate back over to the old school pen and notebook journal. Something about physically writing with pen and paper soothes me. I will write as often as I can, until next time……




Alright, I have a confession.

I’ve been having a real PROBLEM with sugar post show. I’m constantly eating sweets, especially at night when I absolutely shouldn’t be! Cookies, chocolate, pastries, cookie butter, candy you name it!

I’ve been reading up on sugar and found an interesting article online pertaining to the scary side effects of sugar which are the following:

1) Tossing Back Sugary Drinks May Increase Your Risk of Diabetes – I don’t really struggle with this one, I’m not a fan of soda or juices. The only liquids I drink are coffee, water, tea, and protein drinks! However, overall excessive sugar consumption CAN increase the risk of diabetes, so say no to the junk!

2) Following a High-Glycemic Diet May Cause Acne – Acne has always been a struggle of mine, but I noticed a reduction of acne once I started eliminating sugar from my diet. I don’t want to risk losing my clear skin!

3) A Diet Rich in Sugar Can Hurt Your Heart – Excessive amounts of sugar can create fat build up in your arteries, ultimately increasing your risk of a heart attack! To prevent arteries from building up fat and hardening, cut the sugar!

4) Sugar Can Increase Your Chances of Depression – Eating too much sugar can shoot your blood sugar levels extremely low, also causing them crash and reach an extreme low. This can cause your mood to roller coaster causing a fluctuation in your metabolism and serotonin levels.

5) High Blood Sugar Can Increase Your Risk of Yeast Infection – Yeast grows by feeding on sugar! Yeast infections are caused by a bacteria called Candida. Candida naturally exists in the body, but are maintained by the immune system so they don’t overgrow and cause infection. Extra sugar in your blood, saliva, or urine create a breeding ground for excessive bacteria.

6) Sugar May Increase Your Risk of Cancer – Statistics have proven that people who consume more sugar in their diet have an increased chance of cancer than those who have a consume less sugar. This has been proven with studies related to pancreatic cancer, breast cancer in women, and obesity.

Dang! There were A LOT more dangerous side effects to eating sugar than I imagined! To be honest, my main concerns with eating sugar were: weight gain and energy levels. This article opened my eyes to a lot more reasons to reduce sugar in my diet.

I honestly felt really great during my early stages of competition prep once I swore off sugar. I believe that most of my weight loss was from eliminating all the sugary junk I had been eating previously. I felt great as long as I was eating enough whole foods! I started dropping weight, my muscles and abs were a lot more prominent, I had plenty of energy, and my acne started going away!

I’m gonna reduce the amount of sugar in my diet and get back on track. Time to get rid of this post competition fluff, get chiseled for Summer, and treat my body better from the inside out 🙂


Hump Day Workout


Hey Guys!

Happy Hump day, man I thought YESTERDAY was Wednesday, I’m in for a crazy day at work. Work has been RIDICULOUSLY busy! Everyone is trying to fit in their briefings before we have limited availability for the Summit’s happening beginning the end of May. Spring and Fall tends to be our busy season; with Summer and Winter being soooo sloooow we’re practically closed.

We have gotten off late nearly every night for the past few weeks, definitely takes a mental and physical toll. I keep using the “I got off work late again” excuse to skip my two-a-days. Last week I did 2 two-a-days, and I haven’t done one this week yet! I’m going tonight after work regardless of what time I get off. I’m not gonna let work ‘win’ per say. I’m not gonna let that control my life, my workouts, and my outcome at Emerald Cup. It’s grind time! Time to put forth 110%! I have a fighting chance of winning my category!

Today marks 36 days until competition day. I technically don’t count peak week, so I have less than a month to diet down, do the tough grueling work, tan, pose, and OWN it. Derek gave me a new swim workout that I tried yesterday, felt freakin’ AMAZING! I dunno man, I think I like swimming. A LOT. Full body workout, relaxing, great form of physical and mental therapy and to be honest my abs look pretty killer after a 45-60 minute session. We’re incorporating two days of endurance training now instead of the one. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are my swim, bike, run days.

This Saturday he’ll be showing me new workouts to incorporate into the last stretch of my training. I’m pumped! Everything is coming together very nicely. Next week I will be adjusting my macros as well, strict nutrition to make those abs *POP* Still gotta work on that posing! I’ll be attending the Vancouver Natural Show Saturday April 12th with a gal I met on Instagram. It will be our first time meeting, we’re both competing in Emerald Cup. We’ll be carpooling together and taking notes of the show to see what we’re in for! She’s competing Figure and I’m doing Bikini. Can’t wait to finally meet someone who is on this fitness journey with me!

Other great news! I received my first sponsorship! THAT’S RIGHT! My very first athlete sponsorship! The company who is sponsoring me is called: Femme. They are a new women’s fitness brand that will be launching their website and their product line VERY SOON, and I have the opportunity to try their products and promote their brand. I’m very excited! I found out about them through Facebook, you should definitely check them out and stay tuned for more information. They are currently keeping everything very low key and under wraps, but from what I can gather, so far they have a women’s skin firming cream that will be releasing. The cream will help reduce the appearance of cellulite and TIGHTEN the skin, which I’m super pumped to try out before my competition. Hopefully it will give me the edge!

Not TOO much different. My goals are to slim down and bring out those obliques to stay, and lose some muscle mass in my legs to create a softer look.

Next week will be my one month March progress photo, so hoping to see more changes! I’ll include a back side shot as well. This week was the beginning of my restricted diet, cutting calories and watching my macros more closely.
